Explore the Ansonia Recreation Center for Connecticut Tourism adventure
One of the hidden gems of your Connecticut tourism adventure is the chance to go to some of the little parks that show what Connecticut nature is really like. A trip to the Ansonia Recreation Center will allow you to see first hand how pretty this area of the state is. You can go for a walk along the two 0.5 miles of nature trails and see the wonderful flowers and plants that line the way.
The park was first a dairy farm but was bought and is now managed by the city of Ansonia for the purpose of training people of the excitement of nature. The 104 acres are filled with the wonders that make the country such a delightful place to spend a day or longer. Here you can spend some time walking along the streams that divide the property or just sit by the two acre pool and relax with the sound of the water and the ripples the wind makes across the pool. Go for a walk through the grasslands and visit the upland swamp to see what percentage of the New England flora and fauna you can identify. When you notice that you actually have no idea that many of them you may need to take part in the tutorial opportunities offered through the visitor center. They offer nature-oriented classed for school age children on weekdays and for the adults or for families they offer classes on the weekends and in the evening.
A portion of the park has been dedicated to recreational fields to add to the use of the facilities. There are soccer fields, baseball fields and softball fields that are employed by everyone in the neighborhood. Thereis also land put aside for community gardening which provides fresh goods for those that participate as well as allows people to share ideas and stories about gardening with others from the community. It’s a great way to get together with something profitable to everyone.
Another part of the park which will please all folks of littler people is the playscape. Here they can run, climb and play with other youngsters of their own age and wear out some of the energy they have had while at home!
The Visitor Center is open from 9-5 daily with the exception of major vacations but even if they are not there, the garden will still be worth taking a few minutes to see. The park itself is open common-or-garden from dawn to nightfall. The park is free to everyone and found at 10 Deerfield Road which is on the easterly side of Ansonia in New Haven County, near the Woodbridge city border. Come out and spend a while on your Connecticut vacation to enjoy nature and take five from driving, just enjoy a day in the park.
