In you’re looking for a printer that has a better cost per page of an inkjet printer but still has around the same desktop footprint then the Samsung CLP-300n maybe the printer for you. Samsung CLP-300n toner cartridges are smaller than the normal Samsung toner cartridges and they have a cost per page of 2p for black and 10p for colour. Each of the colour printer cartridges yields 1,000 pages and the black yields 2,000 pages. Overall build quality is very good for a budget machine and the operating noise is also very low giving the CLP-300n a quality feel. In terms of print quality the CLP-300n is lacking in some areas but very good in others. Text printing with no background colour is excellent the print is sharp and clear even with small fonts, but colour printing is slightly hazy and colours in photographs look slightly dull and flat. It’s a similar story for printing speed, while monochrome printing speeds are pretty quick at 16ppm the colour is much slower at 4ppm, although this is slow for a laser printer it’s a lot faster than any inkjet printer. The CLP-300n lacks a duplex printing facility and the paper tray has a small capacity of 150 sheets. These facts and the slow colour printing speeds make the Samsung not the best printer for printing large project on a regular basis. Despite this the CLP-300n is network ready so can shared in a work group and represents good value for those who need better performance than an inkjet in terms of running cost and print speed that are on a tight budget.
